Kyzyl Kum desert is the biggest deserted area in Central Asia. It covers almost the half of Uzbek territory. Kyzyl Kum desert was home for nomadic tribes for many centuries. Even in our days you can see people leaving in the depth of Kyzyl Kum desert continuing their nomadic lifestyle far from civilization.
Ellik Qala region located in the western part of Kyzyl Kum desert once was the flourishing green valley. The name “Ellik Qala” –“Fifty Castles/fortresses” in Uzbek language gives its origin from number of castles and fortresses built there by Khorezmian rules. When Amu Darya River changed its direction, people left their houses and green valley covered with sand.
Castles and fortresses of Ellik Qala are still living on and attracting many history-lovers from far parts of the world.

DETAILED PROGRAM:

DAY 1: Meeting with guide at hotel and transfer to airport for morning flight to Nukus-the capital of Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic. Upon arrival start city tour:

• Savitskiy museum with unique collection of paintings
• Mizdakhan

Lunch at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 2: After breakfast drive to Khiva through Kyzyk Kum desert and Amu Darya River.

• Have a stop at the desert to take photo of flora and fauna of Kyzyl Kum

On the way visit ancient fortresses:

• Tuprok Qala & Ayaz Qala

Lunch at local chaihana. Arrival to Khiva and accommodation at hotel.
Overnight at hotel.

DAY 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Full day visit of Ichan Qala-inner city of Khiva with:

• Kalta Minar-“small tower”
• Kunya Ark fortress with money stamping and prison
• Islam Khodja Minaret-the tallest tower in Uzbekistan
• Juma Mosque with 212 wooden columns
• Tash Houli Palace and Harem

Lunch at local house with national cuisine.
Drive to Urgench airport for evening flight to Tashkent. Arrival to Tashkent. End of services.

Check-in time at hotels at 14:00, check-out time-12:00.
